Acoustic Guitar and Vocals

Subtle and transporting across many genres, Kwong’s guitar playing flows with chords and tones, guiding the lyrics that naturally follow.

Kwong first began studying guitar in 1998 with Rochester, NY musician Dennis Monroe.  He released two studio albums with Mr. Monroe, “Alive and On The Street” and “Grey Affections” between 2001-2005, before studying with jazz guitarist Steve Greene.  Kwong released “The Turn” in 2009, a pressed CD and acoustic album. Currently, he is in the process of recording his 4th studio album, “April Hour.”

The Turn

“The Turn” is an 11 track pressed CD containing original songs on acoustic guitar with vocals. Grounded in a minimalist aesthetic, the album was studio recorded using a reel to reel audio tape device, while the jacket was designed from one of the artist’s most formative paintings. The lyrics, tone, and nuances of the album touch upon spiritual transformation, the overcoming of illness, and artists’ struggles while paying homage to the places that inspired its creation.
